TO HAVE AND TO HOLD
OR
TO HAVE AND TO LOOSE
THAT IS THE DILEMMA
OR
TO HAVE AND TO LOOSE
THAT IS THE DILEMMA
Presently the world is in a relatively stable condition in relation to rapidly changing weather patterns, but global warming is in the process of causing negative changes that could challenge our status quo, if not our existence.
Severe climate changes have the potential to radically affect our food and water resources and thus contribute to the loss of adequate resources to feed and nourish our burgeoning population growth not to mention the decimation of our wildlife populations worldwide.
Severe climate changes have the potential to radically affect our food and water resources and thus contribute to the loss of adequate resources to feed and nourish our burgeoning population growth not to mention the decimation of our wildlife populations worldwide.
THE FOLLOWING IS A WORST CASE SCENARIO SITUATION.
Severe climate changes have the potential to affect our food and water resources thus causing a deterioration in food production for both human beings and animals. This scenario is also negatively influenced by the massive over population currently occurring in some countries.
Over population and climate change is a formidable combination that can cause extensive poverty, insufficient nutritious food per person or animal, and polluted water resources. Insufficient nutrients and polluted water can cause and or increase disease. Starvation can become a major problem worldwide. The diminution of food, water and other necessary resources can lead to an increase in criminal acts to gain access to scarce food, water and other necessities.
Decent people could switch over from being caring citizens to survival mode where their main focus is on obtaining sufficient food, water and other necessities to maintain life.
We currently have the capacity to prevent these negative scenarios. We must lobby our governmental structures to take timely action to prevent these negative scenarios. They must actively and urgently adopt measures to prevent global warming and overpopulation.
The obvious actions that are most important are:
1. Adopt strategies to eliminate excessive greenhouse gases. We must all contribute by lessening our carbon footprint.
2. Encourage the planting of trees and other plants to absorb carbon dioxide emissions. Plants absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen through the process of photosynthesis.
3.Municipalities must ensure that water supplies are not contaminated with sewerage and or chemical effluent from factories and other sources.
4. Alternative sources of energy must be used where practicable. Examples: Wind Power to generate electricity. Water power to generate electricity. Sun Power to generate electricity. Water Tanks to store rain water. People must walk or cycle where practicable. Walking and cycling will benefit people's health because it is an excellent form of exercise.
5. People must be encouraged to only have as many children as they can afford, failure to do so will result in poverty for the family.
6. If the ratio of food and water to the population becomes a problem then countries can offer incentives to have less children. China has set a good example. The obverse is also applicable if a country experiences an excessive decrease in their population then incentives can be offered to rectify the situation.
The governments of countries must monitor their population situations, and their mineral resources carefully to avoid catastrophic decisions at a later date. Example: Countries that are presently blessed with mineral resources must be aware that these resources are finite. They must prepare for the eventual extinction of such resources. They could find themselves in a situation where their mineral resources are no longer able to sustain their importation of goods that they are unable to produce. Example: Agricultural Products.
There has to be a balance between the availability of food, water, and other necessary commodities to sustain a given population of humans and animals.
Let us work together to protect our world and the future of all living creatures. We can do it but we must act timeously to protect present resources.
